About DataBase
The aim of ArtHeat's DataBase is to create a central resource on contemporary Southern African art, built in a decentralised way. The idea is to draw from our collective experience to produce a knowledge base that is free of any hierarchy. The concept of sharing knowledge, where the production of knowledge is a process of giving as well as taking, is important in the current field of contemporary art discourse, where an absence of production is producing an absence of consumption.
