THIS IS NOT A JOKE: Shania Twain by William

Hugh Upsher is a recent Michaelis Graduate who lives in the suburbs with his parents. He enjoys watching test cricket on TV.When one searches for anything on Google it automatically boasts the ridiculous number of search results it can offer you, it even has the cheek to tell you that it took a ridiculously short time to perform the function. In the same way a ten-year-old boy will tell you that his Dad can beat up your Dad, Google’s claims are a bit of a hollow bluff. Most users don’t dare to venture past the third or forth page of results offered up. This is because the dense jungle of the Internet we are familiar with is, in reality, just a front for an endless graveyard of lost ideas. For the sake of art I decided to venture into the 4,280,000 results one would receive searching for information on Shania Twain.
After meticulously surfing through the first twenty-five pages or so I came across a true gem, A website called Shania Twain by William. William is a Shania Twain fan who has a knack for making flashy wallpapers out of magazine images he scans in. He specializes in wallpapers and posters but his real niche is his “Naughty Pix”. This is where the real talent shines as he uses his Photoshop skill to create “Fakes & edits (done in a sense of fun)”. By fabricating nipples and even boobs over pre-existing photos of Mrs. Twain he creates what I view as high Art. Unfortunately his unique artworks were being undermined by people who were stealing his content for their own gain, this sadly led to the website’s demise in 2005. Good things are never meant to last.
He claims on his homepage: “I've been noticing a lot of stealing going on when it comes to my work, and I don't appreciate it. Some of this "theft" has been showing up on the "bigger" Shania Twain fan sites - ones that claim they don't steal” In a separate note he explains the downfall of this once proud practice, “I may post occasional new content, but you will likely see a drastic drop in the quality of the work I post here. Yes, I'm aware that the quality of the pictures posted on this website varies wildly, but the more elaborate images take time I'm not willing to part with anymore.” It is an all too familiar situation to see true artists stop producing because of an unsupportive environment. If only outstanding cultural practitioners such as William were recognized and given the freedom to create.
Thankfully though, long after Earth’s fossil fuels are depleted, long after the pyramids have returned to sand and Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel collapses in Shania Twain by William will still be around. With its violet and baby blue checkerboard background it will still be providing custom wallpapers to all the creepy Shania fans across the globe. That is if they are lucky enough to find it, and get permission from William (which I attempted to do, still awaiting reply).
