Boogie With Stu

Friday, March 27, 2009

Not content with merely gracing the cover of the Mail & Guardian "Friday" supplement (20 March) with a rather sexy image of Dead Wrong it seems Stuart Bird has cracked a nod from another more unlikely media-source, House and Leisure magazine. The magazine featured Bird in its list of "10 fresh talents to look out for at this year's Joburg Art Fair".

The List:
1. Avant Car Guard
2. Mikhael Subotzky
3. Nandipha Mntambo
4. Cameron Platter
5. Billie Zangewa
6. Stuart Bird
7. Gabrielle Goliath
8. Mary Sibande
9. Lawrence Lemaoana
10. Karlien de Villiers

Who loves ya Babe?

There's an article about the Art Fair itself in there too, but that contains such gems as "Prepare yourself for a spectacular of gallery hopping, art shopping, culture surfing and cocktail sipping-all under one roof" so is best avoided at all costs.

Incidentally has anyone ever noticed how many magazines are called {random domestic common noun} and Home? Good lord. It took more than one mis-purchase to finally find the right magazine for this article at Pick 'n Pay.

Still nothing from Young.
