Wallinger Wins
Tuesday, December 04, 2007

Mark Wallinger has been awarded the 2007 Turner Prize at a ceremony in Liverpool last night. The venue was chosen in recognition of Liverpool being selected as European Capital of Culture for 2008. Dennis Hopper made the much anticipated announcement. Wallinger's stand against Britain's involvement in the Iraq war and his general anti-war sympathies, as expressed in his recent work, has seen him go head-to-head with the British Government and even having his work impounded by the police last year.
