A Pointless Conversation. The Inchoate, Idiosyncratic Descent into Nihilsm at blank projects
Thursday, October 04, 2007
I can't believe that the highlight of this show was another speech by Ronald Suresh Roberts. How is it possible, you may ask, that RSR is speaking at another opening at blank? Fuck, I would respond, alone knows. Why then was his speech, you could ask, the highlight? Because he at least, I would answer, is funny, original and smart. Even when he's pissed. And he knows the president. Oh, I would imagine you saying, so the show was crap. Yes, I would agree, my cat could put on a better curated show. Why, another possible question from you, are you reviewing it then? For the reason, I would reason, to put out the message that a show, even one about nihilism, inchoatity and idiosyncracy, needs to be a little funny, original or smart. Otherwise, no one is interested. Attracting people's interest surely is an important part of a show, even if it is nihilistic. Otherwise what's the point? You end up looking like you are hiding behind some words in your title, hiding a complete lack of thought process, knowledge of what the words mean, and a general incompetence.
Oh, you might say, thanks.
My pleasure, at least there were pork viennas, a delicacy banned in my household.
Yes, yum, pork viennas. Mmmmm. Pork viennas. Yummy. Yes.
And blank, please can we see a stronger hand.

good utilization of the qwantz dinosaur comics.
yeah, i was going to say: robert, this is matthew king, it is really awesome that your read daily dinosaur comics. awesome! yip
just trying to move the conversation along
also: marc, no get nasty? or you just haven't left yet?
Matthew that last sentence made no sense. Try again.
Has anyone realised that the more bad press this show gets, the more successful it becomes, if you think about the proposal. The flyer said to come confused and leave confused right?
Im assuming...I may be wrong.
Robert, Your writing style is sounding a lot like Lizzas these days...
I think the point here Frank is I'm not leaving confused, I'm leaving annoyed.
Frank is Carrie in disguise!
And considering that anonymous 7:03 wrote a message two minutes after the last post, pretty sure that's "Frank" too. Patience is a virtue.
Congratulations Ktulu, I am officially insulted. You could have at least assumed I was the nicer of the two curators.I would also like to point out that it is possible for more than one person to view this site at a time. And why would I use anon?
More than one person on Artheat at 7 in the morning? Fat fucking chance. Artists are a lazy, sleep-loving bunch.
Sorry, let me do this properly.
Dear Frank (Carrie)
Your argument is holier than a nice big slice of swiss cheese. For instance where would anyone have seen the flyer or proposal that stated that thing about leaving confused? Not on the Michaelis Gallery 02 October Artheat post nor in the review by Robert Sloon. Nor in any mentioning of the exhibition in the ugly flyers of the early advertising for the first show.
You used anonymous posting as an attempt to imply things about Robert Sloon because he ripped your show to shreds. You opted not to be Frank in an attempt to portray the notion that more than one person thought his review was flawed in some way or another. "Frank" because some metaphysical flyer said something about leaving confused and "Anonymous" because Robert Sloon's writing allegedly mirrors Lizza Bigwort's style (which it doesn't).
Simple.
Your inability to make use of the humble apostrophe is also a pretty glaring revelation:
" Frank said...
Im assuming...I may be wrong.
7:01 AM"
" Anonymous said...
Robert, Your writing style is sounding a lot like Lizzas these days...
7:03 AM"
I could cite your inexplicable need to use ellipsis in your posts as further evidence but I won't. Oops.
Self-deprecation as a means of misleading people as to your secret identity is a pretty old trick too. Not buying it. Thanks for basically admitting to being one of the two "curators" though.
haha
Hi, people pretending to be me and people believing them or whatever the fuck is going on. I always enjoy reading the blog after a few days to see what has collected there. Im not Frank and Im not upset by the review and wouldn't insult Robert Sloon: I happen to enjoy his writing style, and he has been very supportive of our show just by attending and helping out with our press. He is entitled to his opinion and I like getting reviews regardless of whether they are bad or not. This is after all a learn- as-one-goes-show and Im very grateful to everyone for their input.I also don't write under anon because of a drunken promise made to Christian Nerf. Hope this clears things up. Sorry if I ruined the fun. Hopefully see you all on Monday.
"Im not Frank and Im not upset by the review"
Will you please, pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease start using apostrophes? It will delight me to no end.
Thank you.
I think that if this Carrie/Frank/Anonymous who blogs at 7am and doesn't use apostrophes is masquerading as several people, then well done to him/her/it for using its imagination. I can't believe that, with the wonderful opportunities for fabrication offered by this blog, everyone is so ploddingly predictably HONEST. I'm sure there's a time and a place for upholding Sunday school ethics, but it's not here,
...and the 'come confused leave confused' thing was definitely made clear. I remember reading it and it could only have been on artheat as I didn't see the flyers. I remember I particularly wanted to see the show after that, and I'm sorry I missed it.
I think all this petty bitching, politics and Sloons rancid verbal vomit, has taught all young prospective artists and curators a valubale lesson, passion and daring initiative have no place in this pathetic community of failed and bitter artists, who cant stand the threat of "replacement".
