15 September. Trasi Henen at SMAC

Tuesday, September 11, 2007

Stellenbosch Modern and Contemporary is proud to present Delicate Life Pursuer, an exhibition of mixed media works by Trasi Henen.

Trasi Henen completed her Bachelors of Art, Fine Art degree at the University of the Witwatersrand in 2003. She has had two solo exhibitions in Johannesburg, Suburbia Fantastical (2003), and Passer By (2005). She curated an outdoor video festival Art in the Dark in 2004.

Henen's previous exhibitions explored themes of fractured and alienated suburban spaces, influenced by the sinister landscape of a South African City. Preoccupied with imbued landscapes the spaces she creates in her works are anxious but also elusive and compelling. These themes are explored further in her current body of work.

Trasi Henen moved from Johannesburg to Cape Town at the beginning of 2007. Delicate Life Pursuer is Henen's first solo exhibition in the Western Cape.

The exhibition opens on Saturday, 15 September at 12h00 noon and is open to the public 'till October 15.

There will be a bus leaving from Michaelis at 11h00 am.
