After reading Bettina's interviews with Alvim et al, and seeing his opinion about comments on artheat being perceived in Angola as racist, I'd like to remind him that the most powerful comment of all was the one posted on artheat which was a letter from Bartholomey Toguo.
It seems everyone feels bad now about saying nasty things about where Sindoko Dokolo got his money, because when you meet him he's such a nice guy. I've no doubt he really is a nice guy. A lot of white South Africans are very nice too, and yet people persist in asking these akward questions about where we got our money. So we really do identify with how Sindoko must feel about our racist opinions.
Medici or Machiavelli, who was worse? Is evil a stain which time and good deeds can't erase? OR ARE WE JUST - AND WHY NOT - totting up the score. Like if god is dead, do I have to play at being him? Or doesn't it matter? Bring out your dead!
