Website of the Week

ArtHeat presents a new feature: Website of the Week. We'll be looking at art related websites, which I come across.
Yay.
This stems from the fact that Ed Young has become new media editor for ArtThrob, and he keeps picking my brain for ideas, which makes me feel abused. Now you can get them here first.
First up is UbuWeb which is an online resource, described in the Guardian as 'the thinking person's YouTube'. It's a collection of movies and MP3's, free for non-commercial use, that stretch from Richard Prince recordings to Fluxus films, historical to contemporary. And if you struggle to dive in, they offer choice selections by leading critics, writers and artists.
Also worth checking out is VVork, but Ed got there first so I won't review it here.

What the hell does Young know about new media anyway, the guy can't even programme a vcr, why did they bother giving him the job. Didn't he major needle point and embroidery in the dusty old media faculty at Mike-A-less.
maak 'n las?...
Much as I try to engage with it, I find Ed's tone so offputtingly self-important. He's as pompous as Clement fuckin Greenberg.
