Thanks to Matt Hindley, for the heads up on this. In a Sunday Times article, Sean O'Toole, editor extraordinaire and short story writer, says that Guy Tillim, along with Moshekwa Langa and Wim Botha, are the sexiest artists, while commenting on a recent portrait of him by Deborah Poynton. Perhaps Marquis O'Toole has a thing for bald men.
This kind of thing makes me want to emigrate to another planet. That painting is the most depressing thing I've seen in ages, and the horrible expression on his face is like an attempt at dignity of a wife-beating Baptist bigot. Sis. What the fuck is going on in Sean O'toole's head. Really. Contrary to popular opinion I think artheat is the only publication with any fuckin taste.
