Thank you, Andrew Lamprecht, for donating this fantastic video of his eminence The Minister of Arts And Culture Pallo Jordaan's speech at the opening of Cape '07.

what is this video about? Is it commenting on the speech or merely recording it? The only part of the speech I could actually hear was something about a country's true history only starting after it has achieved liberation.

It is a video of Brett Bailey's "Butcher Boys"/Witches from his version of Verdi's Macbeth leaving the roof of Khayetitsha's civic centre while the speech was in progress. It is documentation of the speech and the event.

Pallo. you're our champion. We're for you, fully. But for goodness sake man get some image management. You can't be seen to be blabbing on and on while drowned by the babble of everyday banality, background noise. You ARE The Show, man! Here are a few tips: say less, the folk are either less bright than you are, or less able to concentrate, or perhaps they care less. Whatever, I'll bet you a bottle of The Boss' Black Label ( The Walker not The Worker) that if you say less, and build some variation into your delivery, perhaps by noticing -rather than ignoring - the distractions and background interuptions, you'll win them over. And please man, next time you name an airport let us help you. I for one would have liked to call JHB OLIVER TAMBO, rather than O R TAMBO. I know that there were jolly good reasons for the descision your department took but I suspect history would have enjoyed the sound and clarity of OLIVER more than it will OR. Best wishes...
