I overheard last night, from a high up source in our "Not another biennale" TransCape, that they only ever planned to have three exhibitions and then pack the whole thing in after 2010. This is why it's not a biennale, apparently they don't want to live up to the expectations of sustainability that the term requires. This was supposed to be public knowledge, but I couldn't find any mention of their long-term plans (or lack of) on their website. Well, I hope that they make the three shows kick-ass. Maybe afterwards there will be some room for a real biennale. Sponsors, anyone?
